It was so fun to do this maternity shoot! I feel like I am constantly surrounded by pregnant women. I am finally done having children of my own (knock on wood!) so I can enjoy other pregnant women and their beautiful glow and cute tummy! You hate it when it's YOU that's pregnant, but when its someone else its the most beautiful thing! I enjoyed spending time with Heather. I will be having a session with her and her family in a month or so! I can't wait to meet her new baby!

So let me start out by saying this will be a long post, but worth the time! This was a super fun session from a month ago (yes, I'm a little behind on my posting!). I found this FANTASTIC new location which I will share with other photographers IF and only IF you comment on this post! (In fact, I would love the comments from everyone that views this post!) This place has it all I tell ya!

Also, I've gotta give a shout out to one of my FAVORITE photographers- Vanessa Millecam. She has been helping me improve my work and I just can't thank her enough! If anyone is ever in the Salt Lake City area you just have to call her for your portrait needs!

This family was so sweet and they are growing right before our eyes! Leila is expecting her 2nd child in the next few weeks! This was such a sweet time in their family's life. Their little girl was so sweet and excited for her new baby to come.

Sweet Family

Tamara and I went to high school together and reconnected through planning our 10 year reunion and then again on Facebook. I was so excited to take pictures of her beautiful daughters! We were laughing at how perfect they were posing. I don't think I've ever had kids this age sit so well for their pictures. It was so fun to see Tamara and her family, they are just darling.

A Beautiful Bride...

So I did this bridal session like a month and a half ago and forgot to post them. She and her handsome hubby have been married for 6 weeks now! I've been so behind on my blog posting these days. I'm going to try to take a break this summer from my sessions so I can catch up on my work and spend some much needed time with my kids.
She was so wonderful to photograph. She took direction so well and practically read my mind half the time. We did some park-like shots and then moved on to some more urban shots. It was fun to do both. She's just gorgeous no matter where we shot. I probably could have had her pose in front of the grocery store and she would have looked amazing!

My First Senior!!

My new favorite!!

Meet Lauren- Class of 2009! She is the first Senior I've done before! She was a dream! She could not be more beautiful AND sweet! We started out at a park to get some greenery shots, I loved the wild flowers. We finished off in downtown Lincoln with an Urban look, that I feel, suited her much better! I kept telling her she could be a model! She's like 5'10" and thin as a supermodel. I was so happy with how these turned out. Let me know what you think!! I love feedback!

I was so happy to have to opportunity to spend time with this, one of my favorite families. I've been able to watch these kids grow up over the last 6 years. They are so sweet and just darling! I'm going to have to work really hard to make my boys worthy to date these girls someday!! We had a bit of wind which complicated our balloon idea, but we still had fun with it!

Welcome Baby Grey!

Baby Grey was 3 weeks old when we did his shoot. It's a little easier to do a newborn shoot before they are 2 weeks old because they are still super sleepy. Greyson wasn't as sleepy as we wanted him to be, but we still ended up getting some great shots! We even got a few smiles!

Sweet Baby Shaya

I don't get asked to do newborns very often so this was really fun for me. Little Shaya was 3 weeks old at this session. We were able to get some sweet sleepy shots and some beautiful awake shots. She is the youngest of five kids and just as gorgeous as all her siblings. I love all the pink, I don't often get to see much in my house....
I just loved her eyes in this shot, so alert and colorful!

This was my first time doing the classic "black background newborn" thing. It was really fun! I hope I get the chance to do it more often.

Oh I just love little feet! So delicate and pretty!

Shaya was born just before Easter so we gave her little bunny ears and put her in a basket! Perfect little Easter bunny!

Here she's in her blessing gown that was made by her grandmother and used by her four other siblings. Just darling, I had to make it a little vintage!

From my high school days...

This was a fun session with this darling couple who I just happened to go to HIGH SCHOOL with! So funny! Our kids are in the same 1st grade class, we live around the corner from each other AND we graduated together. Sad thing is, they still look young enough to be in high school and unfortunately I don't!! (Those 5 boys are wearing on me!!) They have the most BEAUTIFUL three little girls! My son Mason has a crush on their oldest daughter, and I'm not surprised, she's a doll!!
So, they are the first family to get to use my new antique Setee' I bought the day before this shoot. I'm glad they were willing to be my guinea pigs. I bought this setee and two matching chairs on Craigslist to use in my shoots with families or kids. Make sure to mention it if you want to use it in YOUR sitting. We went to downtown Roseville for some urban chic!

Blurring the background here really sets the girls out more, there's even more focus on them, I thought that was cool.

Oh, no wonder my son thinks she's so cute!

After the family shots, the girls changed into their dress up clothes and danced around for me. They were so sweet clomping around in their dress up shoes!

I've got another son who will go to kindergarten with this one next year, they better watch out!

I had so much fun on this shoot! Sorry it took me so long to post these. I've still got another 3 shoots to post and a wedding! Luckily the rain made me cancel my last two shoots so I'm not falling too far behind.

I realized that I never post pictures of my own children! I decided to take the boys out on Saturday to do a mini shoot out in old Roseville. There are lots of cool old buildings and trains going by to keep my kids interested. I took a ton of images in only 20 minutes! I didn't bother getting them dressed nice, but I did comb their hair at least. Baby Baron isn't in any pics because he can't sit, or stand, and he was in the car crying with Daddy. Maybe next time!

I've been trying to convince my clients to do an "urban" session, taking pictures in an urbans setting rather than at a park or out in nature somewhere. I've really liked the urban look lately. It seems to give images more of a journalistic feel, like they belong in a magazine. Plus, I think it draws your eye more to the person rather than the background. Here are some fun examples of what an "Urban" setting might be like.

So I did a super fun shoot yesterday with the cutest engaged couple, Andie & Josh. Andie was actually one of my husband's Sunday School students a few years ago so it's kind of weird to see her getting married. But I realized she is older than I was when I got married. It's all relative....
Any-hoo, I had a great time and they are just beautiful! I can't wait to shoot their wedding in May! I had like 20 favorites and couldn't decide which one's to post so I decided to post a BUNCH! Please leave me a comment if you like these pics. I love to hear the feedback!

I absolutely adore the colors in the pic below! I was really happy with the depth of field I captured too. Don't mean to toot my own horn, but I felt like I was having a really good day! It may have something to do with my gorgeous subject matter!

The above and below are on the top of my list! I was so pleased with how well this whole session went. I LOVE shooting engaged couples! The love between them was almost tangible, it was great!

Darling Brothers

These brothers were so darling! We had a great time exploring while I tried to catch them with my camera. They were full of energy and enjoyed the freedom of running around. I had fun processing these images with a little vintage flare. Don't worry Mom, I can you give them to you any way you'd like. I just really loved them with this vintage look. My Best of 2008- Babies

I only did two infant/baby shoots this year and one of them was MY new baby Baron. I LOVE shooting babies, especially my own! :) Obviously, I'm a bit biased but you have to admit he's cute.

I have always done a shoot with my newborns when they are two weeks old. I have always dressed them in a simple white Onesie and set them on a blanket. Pretty simple. I'm not into the Anne Geddes stuff like dressing them up like bumble bees or putting them in flower pots or giving them wings. That's cute, but I want to remember them for how they really looked. I probably took 100 shots of Baron in this session but this was my favorite, he looks so peaceful and sweet. I love the close up.

Baby Baron

I was able to shoot baby Madelyn when she was a few months old. It was great fun because she was already smiling and had her eyes open the whole time. She looked like such a little princess in her dress and bow. She even had a little bracelet on. She spent a lot of time with her fists in her mouth, which I thought was so darling. That was part of the reason I loved this picture so much.

Since I've been taking a much needed break from sittings since having my baby, I won't have much to post for a while. So I decided to compile my favorites from this last year. I have grown a lot this year and still have more growing to do. But I really enjoy seeing how far I've come over the years. What makes me the happiest is when I can produce amazing images for my clients that truly exceed their expectations. I have great plans for this next year and I'm excited to get back to sharing new images with you. But now I'd like to reflect on last years favorites!

One of my favorite families ever! This awesome mom knows the craziness that is MANY boys!

She does have a girl to calm things a little bit, but it also adds some drama too I'm sure. I had so much fun with this session. These boys have just as much energy as my kids so I felt right at home.

She had the idea of the vintage look to all the pictures and I loved it! She has great style and taste! It was fun the play around with photoshop and give these pictures a special look.

I don't think I've ever had this much success getting siblings to sit together and all smile. This was quite an accomplishment for me! Thanks kids! What a darling crew!

These kids are sooooo good. I was amazed at how well behaved and obedient they were. The have great parents, I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. This is the second year I've taken their family portraits and it was really fun to see how much they've grown up.

Three boys! Sooo much fun! This is such a loving family. I really enjoyed trying to get these boys to smile, it really wasn't too hard though. They LOVE superheros!
This little guy is just adorable! I have never seen such piercing blue eyes! He really stands out.

Blogger did something funny with my layout again (curses!). But you can see how cute these big boys are. They definately look like brothers but they all have their own look, which was fun to capture!

What a beautiful family! It was fun to go out to their property to do this shoot. These kids have a lot of fun living out in the country.

You'll have to forgive the sepia rampage I went on. I just loved the warmth of the grass with the crisp white clothing.

Okay, so I've been really busy lately and haven't been posting as I've been editing. I shot this darling family a week ago or so. I've taken their pictures before, just without dad. It was fun to see the whole family together. These kids are little angels! Sooooo sweet! And beautiful too!

I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to spend time with this gorgeous family. Those boys are so wiggly! I did catch them sitting still from time to time....
Her mom helped her laugh so she would give us a real smile, it worked!!
He enjoyed the few moments of silence we created, we listened to bugs and birds for a few seconds.
The baby of the family cannot sit still. Once you learn to walk it's way too much fun to move than to sit still. We got him though.
How beautiful! They are such a fun couple, I love hanging out with them.

One funny family of six!

This is one seriously awesome family! I haven't seen them in a while and the kids are all grown up! They have one in college, a junior in High school, a 13 yr. old and a 2 1/2 yr. old! He was a bit of a surprise! Boy is he a cutie though! They all have a great sense of humor which made for a fun shoot.

This picture of them walking together, hand in hand is so precious. The funny part is that while they were walking together they were saying such funny things to each other, it was so funny. It definately got them smiling!
Luckily they are related to the Nash family so we were able to shoot at their property again. Nice connections!

She's back to BYU in a week!
She's starting her Junior year of high school.
I still remember teaching him in primary, now he's 13!!
This little one has already inherited his parents great sense of humor.

I still remember running into these guys in the grocery store. They taught us a fun game.... when you see someone you know in the store, inconspicuously put things in their cart. We had a blast on that grocery shopping trip. We both ended up with some extra Halloween candy and I think we snuck a few "adult hygine" items in their cart.
Man, good times....

The new baby sister...

This is my favorite of all the shots I took with this little bunch. Baby sister is clearly so happy to see her beautiful mother's smiling face, there is so much love there!
She had just discovered her hands so she spent most of her time munching on her fists. Every once in a while she'd put it down and I'd get the shot!
She looks like a perfect little princess!
Big brother and big sister were having a hard time sitting still, not weird for a 4 and 2 year old.
They loved showing me their "stinky" feet!
For a few precious moments, they did sit still long enough to show their new baby sister some love.
They both clearly love their new baby sister and were excited to hold her.

Steven & Robin's wedding at the Sacramento Temple

This is truly one of the cutest couples I've ever seen. I'm so glad I was able to be a part of their wedding experience. I thoroughly enjoyed recording some of the memories of the their Temple wedding day.
The Sacramento Temple is really such a beautiful temple to photograph. There were so many areas we were able to use. It was REALLY hot that day, so I tried really hard not to make them stand out in the heat for too long.

They were darling together, sooooo in love. They couldn't keep their hands off each other!!

This sitting was so much fun! It's obvious a lot of that fun had to do with the beautiful bride!
She was such an amazing model, she did everything right. She was such a trooper, she tried all the things we asked her to try. They turned out so great too!
We were lucky enough to get to do the shoot at Dwayne and Jill Nash's property. It was the perfect setting! Thanks Jill for letting us invade!

Six pack in the heat!

We were a little reluctant to take the pictures this night because of the blazing heat! We were all sweating bullets (especially me!). The kids were real troopers though, and when they were "done" we stopped. Luckily we got some great shots before they were spent.
This is my second year shooting this family and I'm just amazed at how photogenic their kids are! I guess it helps that their parents couldn't BE more photogenic! Gorgeous, just gorgeous! (And I had nothing to do with it!)
I felt like these first individual shots reflected these kids personalities well. This stalwart 9 yr. old is very athletic and very smart. He already has immense integrity and it shows.
She's a beautiful ray of sunshine, and a great dancer/performer like her mom!
Does she look a little mischievous? She is and I'm so glad I captured it! She is such a sweetie and so outgoing, very curious and precocious.
This little one is just a doll! So sweet and petite.

Despite the scorching weather we got through this shoot with lots of fun shots of this beautiful family! Thanks for letting me spend time with you!

I was given the great opportunity to shoot my first bridal shoot. I have done another wedding but the bride was never able to do a bridal shoot. This was great fun! She is gorgeous which makes it easy to take a great picture, and she really could be a model. She just knew what to do. She gets married this Saturday so I'm only posting a few shots that won't reveal her dress. But I just had to share a few, especially her glowing personality that came through in all her shots.

She is a beautiful person inside and out. She's got one blessed fiance! I can't wait for the wedding!!

This was what I consider perfect shoot conditions. I thoroughly enjoyed myself with this gorgeous family! Two kids, piece o' cake! Even though the little one loved her freedom of running around, I just followed her with the lense.

I just adore shooting small families with older children! It's just so easy! This gorgeous family made my job fun. There girls were a piece of cake and have gorgeous smiles (once you remind them of that cute boy Zac Efron!)

We were patient with this little one and she came around..... She did not want to have her picture taken at first but she eventually warmed up. I am so thankful that they all were patient with me...we had quite an experience... (notice the location change)

It was REALLY hot but you can't tell, these three look so comfortable...

My First Wedding!!

Many of you knew I had my first wedding shoot on April 19th. This has been very stressful to look forward to, but it ended up being such a fun and amazing experience. My photography pal Guy joined me as my 2nd shooter at the wedding and we were high-fiving all day. We really had a blast. I thought I'd give you all a sneek peek at a few of the pre-wedding shots I got. I don't want to reveal too much before the bride gets to see them. These are just a few of my early favorites...

I had a chance to shoot this wonderful family who came from all over the world to be together. Some came from Belgium, others England and all emerged here in Rocklin to capture this event. Luckily, my hand was pretty steady that evening. The lighting was not ideal so I was shooting at 1/40 sec. at f4.5 most of the time. This was a beautiful family to interact with.

For Valentine's Day, my husband ordered us a fun dessert at this darling shop in Rocklin.

The shop is called Icing on the Cupcake and they design gourmet cupcakes. They have so many varieties it's crazy. We tried 5 different kinds; red velvet, chocolate, chocolate mint, caramel apple, and coconut. They were all amazing! I regret that I didn't think to take a picture before we ate most of them. By the time I thought of it we only had chocolate left. I highly recommend you stop by their shop on 5065 Pacific St. in Rocklin. They have a website, check it out- www.icingonthecupcake.com

Emily is so creative and talented. She went all out for her Valentine's party to make it so much fun and a beautifully romantic setting. These invitations were so perfect, I just had to take a picture. This was not an official event for me as a photographer, but I was able to get a few images that I liked.
Tom and Emily are so perfect together.
She set such a beautiful table. She remembered every little detail, it would have made Martha Stewart proud....
She sent us off with an awesome parting gift.... a compilation CD of everyone's (who was invited to the party) love songs. It was a great evening and a fun opportunity to get a few nice shots.

The Elmers were real troopers! It had been raining a lot of the day and could have made us cancel our session, but we had a plan. Catta Verdera Country Club has a roof that we could enjoy incase it rained. Luckily, it didn't rain the entire time we were shooting, yahoo! It was pretty cold and a tad windy, but we dealt with it. I know Katie and Brad from our ward. They're kids were so good and looked at the camera 9 times out of 10. When the baby wasn't looking I would just call his name, either "Jamison" or "Fuzz" as his parents call him, and he'd look right away.

It was such a treat to work with the Giguiere Family. Their kids are so well-behaved and pleasant. They all smiled quickly and painlessly, despite the freezing cold temperatures. I hope you can't tell too much from the pictures, but they were all so cold their teeth were chattering. I felt terrible, but we were done in 30 minutes. Amazingly fast for a family of 6!

The Brownings are a really neat family. Donovan is a dentist who just bought a practice in Auburn, so if your in the area and need a root canal.... Haley stays home and home schools her children. I met Chris Thompson when he was a Senior in highschool, I had just graduated. We hung out with him and his buddies, fun times. I've known Brooke's family for almost twenty years. Aubry (Jackson) Tenney is her sister who I went to high school with. They are such an awesome family. We have a lot in common. There kids are absolutely gorgeous. I had so much fun doing this for their family. I drove to Chris's parents' property in El Dorado Hills. It was so peaceful and beautiful up there.
